Epoisses de Bourgogne – a true treat of divine inspiration

The ultimate in washed rind beauties, this full flavoured cheese that is quite aromatically gifted is a treat any day. It’s the perfect cheese to celebrate with or to enjoy on a random Wednesday. First developed by monks around the 16th century, nearly lost forever after WW1&2, revived in the mid-50’s, and became AOC protected in 1991.   Fun trivia bit: this cheese is rumoured to have been illegal to bring on public transportation based on it’s aromatic strength.  Runny, supple texture, hearty beefy, briny, savoury flavours, this is a true treat of divine inspiration.epoisses
